Quince Tarte Tatin Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 medium quinces, peeled, cored, and sliced into wedges
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • Flour for dusting
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Quinces: In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add a splash of lemon juice. Add the peeled and sliced quinces and cook for 10-12 minutes until slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Caramelize the Sugar: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 10-inch oven-safe skillet, melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it turns a deep amber color. Be careful not to burn it. Stir in the butter and lemon juice until smooth and well combined.
  3. Arrange the Quinces: Remove the skillet from heat and carefully arrange the quince slices in a circular pattern on top of the caramel. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
  4. Add the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to fit over the skillet. Place the pastry on top of the quinces, tucking the edges into the sides of the skillet.
  5. Bake the Tarte Tatin: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and crisp.
  6. Invert and Serve: Allow the tart to cool for about 5 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate. Be cautious as the caramel will still be hot. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Enjoy the sweet, aromatic flavors of this Quince Tarte Tatin for a delightful fall dessert!
