BAKED CREAM CHEESE WONTONS

Baked Cream Cheese Wontons are a delicious, lighter alternative to the classic fried version. Filled with a creamy mixture of cream cheese, green onions, and a touch of garlic, these wontons are baked until golden and crisp, offering the perfect blend of crunchy outside and creamy inside. They’re an easy and crowd-pleasing appetizer, perfect for parties or a snack. Serve them with sweet chili sauce or soy dipping sauce for an extra burst of flavor. Baking instead of frying makes them healthier without compromising on taste.

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 package wonton wrappers (about 30 wrappers)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
  • Cooking spray or a light brush of oil
  • Sweet chili sauce or soy sauce, for dipping

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil (if using) until well combined.
  3. Assemble the wontons: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of the wrapper. Lightly brush the edges of the wrapper with the beaten egg. Fold the wrapper diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal. You can also bring the corners together for a more decorative shape if desired.
  4. Bake the wontons: Place the assembled wontons on the prepared baking sheet. Lightly spray or brush them with oil to help them crisp up. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the wontons are golden and crispy.
  5. Serve: Allow the baked wontons to cool slightly before serving. Serve with sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for dipping.

These Baked Cream Cheese Wontons are crispy, creamy, and full of flavor, making them a healthier, yet equally delicious appetizer or snack that everyone will love!
