JAMAICAN JERK PORK CHOPS

Jamaican Jerk Pork Chops are a flavorful and spicy dish that brings the vibrant taste of the Caribbean to your dinner table. These pork chops are marinated in a fragrant jerk seasoning made with a blend of spices, including allspice, thyme, and fiery Scotch bonnet peppers, creating a perfect balance of heat, sweetness, and tang. The result is juicy, tender pork with a smoky, slightly charred finish. This dish pairs beautifully with rice and peas, grilled vegetables, or plantains, making it a tropical-inspired meal that’s both delicious and easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • 4 bone-in pork chops (1-inch thick)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice

For the jerk marinade:

  • 1 tbsp ground allspice
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for heat)
  • 1 Scotch bonnet or habanero pepper, minced (optional for extra heat)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the allspice, thyme, cinnamon, ginger, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, soy sauce, brown sugar, lime juice, vegetable oil, and minced Scotch bonnet pepper (if using).
  2. Marinate the pork chops: Place the pork chops in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the jerk marinade over the pork chops, ensuring they are fully coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best flavor.
  3. Cook the pork chops: Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat. Remove the pork chops from the marinade and brush them with olive oil. Grill the pork chops for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C). Baste the chops with lime juice during grilling for added flavor.
  4. Serve: Let the pork chops rest for a few minutes before serving. Pair with rice, grilled veggies, or plantains for a complete meal.

These Jamaican Jerk Pork Chops are bold, spicy, and packed with tropical flavor, making them a perfect centerpiece for a flavorful Caribbean-inspired dinner!
