BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN

Black Pepper Chicken is a flavorful and aromatic stir-fry dish that’s perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. Tender chicken pieces are marinated in a savory sauce and stir-fried with vibrant bell peppers, onions, and plenty of freshly ground black pepper for a bold kick. Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (for sauce)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Green onions for garnish (optional)
  • Steamed rice for serving

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, mix the chicken pieces with cornstarch, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and freshly ground black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Stir-fry the chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes, until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  3. Cook the vegetables: In the same pan, heat the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the sliced onions, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  4. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, mix the chicken broth, soy sauce, and sugar. Pour this mixture into the pan with the vegetables. Stir well and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Combine the chicken and sauce: Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss everything together until the chicken is coated in the sauce. Cook for another minute to let the flavors meld.
  6. Serve: Garnish with green onions if desired, and serve hot over steamed rice.
