Tuna Ceviche is a refreshing and light dish that brings together the vibrant flavors of the sea with a zesty citrus marinade. Perfect for warm days, this ceviche uses fresh tuna, lime juice, and a mix of crisp vegetables to create a healthy and flavorful meal or appetizer. The acidity of the lime “cooks” the tuna while the fresh cilantro, avocado, and jalapeño add layers of complexity and texture. It’s a perfect way to enjoy seafood in its purest form and can be served with tortilla chips or on a bed of greens.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb fresh tuna, cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 4-5 limes)
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 1 small cucumber, peeled, seeded, and diced
- 1 avocado, diced
- 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped (optional)
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Tortilla chips, for serving (optional)
Instructions:
- Marinate the Tuna: In a medium bowl, combine the cubed tuna and lime juice. Toss to coat, then cover and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes, allowing the lime juice to “cook” the tuna.
- Prepare the Vegetables: While the tuna marinates, chop the red onion, cucumber, avocado, jalapeño, and cilantro.
- Combine: After the tuna has marinated, drain off some of the excess lime juice (leave a little for flavor), and mix in the red onion, cucumber, jalapeño, and cilantro. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the Avocado: Gently fold in the diced avocado just before serving to avoid it getting mushy.
- Serve: Serve the tuna ceviche with tortilla chips or on a bed of fresh greens for a light and refreshing meal.
This Tuna Ceviche is packed with bright flavors and makes for a deliciously fresh seafood dish that’s perfect for sharing!
