Whether you’re grilling outdoors or cooking indoors, these taco burgers are a fun and delicious twist on a weeknight dinner or a weekend barbecue. Pair them with tortilla chips, salsa, or a side of Mexican rice for a complete meal that’s sure to please the whole family.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade taco seasoning)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for mixing into the patties)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for grilling)
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced onions (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese or cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
  • Salsa or taco sauce (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Burger Patties:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, taco seasoning, and shredded cheddar cheese (if using). Mix until the seasoning and cheese are evenly distributed throughout the meat.
    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  2. Cook the Burgers:
    • Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add a little olive oil to prevent sticking if using a skillet.
    • Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the burgers are cooked to your desired level of doneness (internal temperature should reach 160°F for medium).
  3. Prepare the Buns:
    • While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Assemble the Taco Burgers:
    • Place each cooked burger patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onions, sliced jalapeños, and shredded cheese.
    • Add a dollop of sour cream and a drizzle of salsa or taco sauce, if desired. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the taco burgers immediately with your favorite sides, such as tortilla chips, salsa, guacamole, or Mexican rice.

These taco burgers bring together the satisfying flavors of tacos and burgers in one delicious bite. Perfect for a quick dinner or a fun twist on a classic barbecue, they’re a guaranteed crowd-pleaser that’s as easy to make as they are to enjoy.
