These brownies are ideal for those who love a decadent dessert with a twist and are guaranteed to satisfy any sweet tooth while offering an unexpected savory kick.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and chopped chocolate over low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Mix the sugars and eggs: In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  6. Add caramel and sea salt: Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the brownie batter and sprinkle with a pinch of flaky sea salt.
  7. Top with remaining batter: Pour the rest of the brownie batter over the caramel layer and spread it out evenly. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top and use a knife to swirl it into the batter for a marbled effect. Sprinkle the top with the remaining sea salt.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  9. Cool and serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy the perfect balance of sweet and salty!
