Slow Cooker Brisket

Slow Cooker Brisket is the perfect comfort dish for those days when you want a hearty, melt-in-your-mouth meal with minimal effort. The magic of slow cooking infuses the beef brisket with flavors from a savory blend of spices, broth, and vegetables, ensuring a tender, juicy result every time. This recipe is ideal for busy days or family gatherings, as it requires only a few minutes of prep work before letting your slow cooker work its magic. Pair it with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or crusty bread to soak up the rich and flavorful sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 3–4 lb beef brisket, trimmed
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine (optional, can substitute with additional broth)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the brisket: Rub the brisket with the salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Ensure the brisket is evenly coated with the seasoning.
  2. Sear the brisket: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on all sides until browned, about 3–4 minutes per side. This step adds depth of flavor to the brisket.
  3. Prepare the slow cooker: Transfer the seared brisket to the slow cooker. In the same skillet, sauté the sliced onions until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add remaining ingredients: Pour the beef broth, red wine (if using), tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce into the skillet with the onions and garlic. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Cook the brisket: Pour the onion and broth mixture over the brisket in the slow cooker. Sprinkle the dried thyme on top. Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or on high for 4–5 hours, until the brisket is fork-tender.
  6. Serve: Carefully remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10 minutes. Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with the rich sauce spooned over the top. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

Enjoy your Slow Cooker Brisket with your favorite sides, and let the aroma and tenderness of this dish bring warmth and comfort to your table.
