Slow Cooker Beef Brisket

Tender, juicy, and full of flavor, this Slow Cooker Beef Brisket is the perfect solution for a comforting and hassle-free meal. Cooking brisket in a slow cooker allows the meat to become incredibly tender as it slowly absorbs all the flavors of the rich, savory seasoning blend. The combination of garlic, onions, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth creates a robust gravy that complements the brisket perfectly. Serve this fall-apart brisket with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or use it as the base for hearty sandwiches. With minimal prep and slow, steady cooking, this dish is a crowd-pleaser that’s great for family gatherings or meal prep.

Ingredients:

  • 3 to 4 pounds beef brisket
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Brisket: Trim any excess fat from the brisket, but leave a thin layer for added flavor. Pat the brisket dry with paper towels.
  2. Season the Meat: In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, cumin, chili powder, and brown sugar. Rub the seasoning blend evenly over the brisket.
  3. Sear the Brisket (Optional but Recommended): Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until it develops a rich, brown crust, about 4-5 minutes per side. Transfer the brisket to your slow cooker.
  4. Prepare the Flavor Base: In the same skillet, add the onions and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  5. Slow Cook: Pour the onion and broth mixture over the brisket in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours, until the brisket is tender and can be easily shredded with a fork.
  6. Rest and Slice: Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  7. Serve: Serve with the sauce from the slow cooker drizzled over the top. Enjoy with your favorite side dishes!

This beef brisket can also be made a day ahead—the flavors develop even more as it sits, making it ideal for leftovers.
