It’s a versatile recipe that requires minimal effort but delivers maximum satisfaction.

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 lb pork shoulder (pork butt)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw (optional, for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pork: Trim any excess fat from the pork shoulder and set aside.
  2. Season: In a small bowl, combine the paprika, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
  3. Add to Slow Cooker: Place the sliced onion and minced garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker. Set the seasoned pork shoulder on top of the onions.
  4. Mix the Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix together the barbecue sauce, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Pour this mixture over the pork in the slow cooker.
  5. Cook Low and Slow: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  6. Shred the Pork: Once the pork is done, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Discard any large pieces of fat.
  7. Mix with Sauce: Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes to soak up the flavors.
  8. Serve: Pile the pulled pork onto hamburger buns. Optionally, top with coleslaw for added crunch and flavor.

Enjoy your slow-cooked BBQ pulled pork sandwiches with a side of fries or pickles for a complete meal!
