SLOW-COOKED BROCCOLI

Slow-Cooked Broccoli is an easy and delicious way to enjoy this nutritious vegetable. Cooking broccoli slowly allows it to absorb flavors from the seasoning and become tender while maintaining its vibrant color. This method is perfect for when you want a hands-off side dish that can cook alongside your main course. Whether you’re serving it as part of a weeknight dinner or a holiday feast, slow-cooked broccoli is sure to be a hit.

Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional, for a bright flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Juice of half a lemon (optional, for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Broccoli:
    • Wash the broccoli and cut it into even-sized florets. If you like, you can also peel and slice the stems to include them in the dish.
  2. Season the Broccoli:
    • In a large mixing bowl, toss the broccoli florets with olive oil or melted butter, minced garlic, lemon zest (if using), dried thyme or Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Make sure the broccoli is evenly coated with the seasoning.
  3. Slow Cook:
    • Place the seasoned broccoli in your slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours, or until the broccoli is tender but still bright green. If you prefer a bit more texture, check the broccoli at the 2-hour mark.
  4. Finish and Serve:
    • If using Parmesan cheese, sprinkle it over the broccoli during the last 10-15 minutes of cooking. This will allow the cheese to melt and create a delicious, savory topping.
    • Once the broccoli is cooked to your liking, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the top for a zesty finish (optional).
    • Serve warm as a side dish to your favorite main course.

Enjoy this Slow-Cooked Broccoli as an easy, flavorful, and healthy addition to any meal!
