Sausage Bites are the perfect appetizer or snack for any occasion, whether you’re hosting a party or simply looking for a savory bite to enjoy. These bite-sized treats are made with flavorful sausage wrapped in a flaky dough or coated in a crispy outer layer, delivering a satisfying crunch with each bite. The simplicity of the ingredients makes them easy to prepare, while the versatility allows you to pair them with a variety of dipping sauces, like mustard, marinara, or even a spicy aioli. These sausage bites are guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground sausage (mild, spicy, or flavored)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (or puff pastry)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Dipping sauces of choice (mustard, marinara, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Cook the sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess grease and allow it to cool slightly.
  3. Mix the filling: In a bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan, cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Stir well until everything is evenly mixed.
  4. Prepare the dough: Roll out the crescent roll dough or puff pastry on a flat surface. Cut the dough into small squares or triangles, depending on the size of the bites you want.
  5. Assemble the bites: Place about a teaspoon of the sausage mixture onto each dough square or triangle. Fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal and creating small sausage-filled pockets.
  6. Egg wash: Brush the tops of the sausage bites with the beaten egg to give them a golden, glossy finish when baked.
  7. Bake: Place the sausage bites on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Serve: Let the sausage bites cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauces.

Enjoy these crispy, cheesy sausage bites as a delicious appetizer or snack!
