Saucy Skillet Steaks

For a dinner that’s both flavorful and quick, Saucy Skillet Steaks are an excellent choice. This recipe turns simple steaks into a gourmet experience with a rich, savory sauce made right in the same pan. Tender, juicy steaks are seared to perfection and then simmered in a luscious combination of garlic, onions, and a splash of red wine or beef broth, creating a sauce that clings to the meat and elevates each bite. Perfect for busy weeknights or a special occasion, this dish pairs wonderfully with mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a side salad. It’s an easy yet impressive way to enjoy a steakhouse-quality meal at home.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1-inch thick)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup red wine or beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Steaks: Season the steaks generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. Sear the Steaks: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.
  3. Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  4. Deglaze and Simmer: Pour in the red wine or beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and dried thyme. Scrape the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for 5 minutes, or until the sauce is slightly reduced.
  5. Thicken the Sauce: Mix the flour with a small amount of water to create a slurry. Stir this into the sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened. Stir in the butter until melted and incorporated.
  6. Return Steaks to Skillet: Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat the steaks through and let them absorb some of the sauce.
  7. Serve: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve the steaks with the sauce spooned over the top.

Enjoy your deliciously saucy skillet steaks with your favorite side dishes for a meal that’s sure to satisfy!
