PORK BURGERS

Pork burgers are juicy, flavorful, and a great alternative to traditional beef burgers. Ground pork lends itself well to a variety of seasonings, allowing you to get creative with flavors. These burgers are perfect for grilling or pan-frying and can be customized with your favorite toppings for a delicious meal.

Ingredients:

For the pork patties:

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (or 2 tablespoons onion powder)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped (optional)
  • 1 egg (optional, for binding)
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for texture)

For assembly:

  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • Lettuce, tomato, and red onion slices (for toppings)
  • Cheese slices (optional)
  • Condiments: ketchup, mustard, mayo, or BBQ sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the pork patties:
    • In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, chopped onion, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and fresh parsley or cilantro. If using, add the egg and breadcrumbs for extra binding and texture. Mix the ingredients together until well combined, but don’t overmix to keep the patties tender.
  2. Shape the patties:
    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
  3. Cook the patties:
    • For grilling: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
    • For pan-frying: Heat a drizzle of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, until cooked through and golden brown.
  4. Add cheese (optional):
    • If using cheese, place a slice on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.
  5. Assemble the burgers:
    • Toast the burger buns if desired. Place the cooked pork patties on the buns and add your preferred toppings such as lettuce, tomato, red onion, and condiments.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the pork burgers immediately with a side of fries, salad, or chips.

Enjoy these juicy and flavorful pork burgers as a delicious alternative to the traditional beef version! Perfect for BBQs, casual dinners, or any burger night.
