Popcorn Cake

Popcorn cake is a fun, nostalgic dessert that’s perfect for parties or potlucks. This sweet and salty treat is made with buttery popcorn, mini marshmallows, and colorful candies, bound together by melted marshmallows and butter, similar to a rice krispie treat but with a light, crunchy twist. It’s an easy no-bake dessert that can be customized with your favorite add-ins like pretzels, chocolate chips, or nuts. The vibrant mix of flavors and textures makes every bite a delightful surprise, and it’s sure to be a hit with both kids and adults.

Ingredients:

  • 8 cups popped popcorn (plain, unbuttered)
  • 1 bag (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup M&M candies or similar chocolate candies
  • 1/2 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces (optional)
  • 1/2 cup pretzels (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sprinkles (optional)
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Popcorn: Pop the popcorn and set it aside. Make sure to remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. Melt the Marshmallows and Butter: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the popcorn, M&M candies, pretzels, and any other desired add-ins like nuts or chocolate chips. Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the popcorn mixture and stir well to coat all ingredients evenly.
  4. Shape the Cake: Lightly grease a bundt pan or 9×13-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray. Press the popcorn mixture firmly into the pan, smoothing the top. Let the cake cool and set for about 1 hour.
  5. Serve: Once set, carefully remove the cake from the pan by turning it upside down onto a serving plate. Slice and serve as a fun and colorful dessert!

Enjoy your sweet, salty, and crunchy popcorn cake!
