Serve it with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce (plus more for topping)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced pepperoni (plus more for topping)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix the meatloaf: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, 1/2 cup marinara sauce, shredded mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, diced pepperoni, green bell pepper (if using), Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined, being careful not to overmix.
  3. Shape the meatloaf: Transfer the meatloaf mixture to the prepared loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on the baking sheet. Press it firmly to ensure it’s well formed.
  4. Add the toppings: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over the top of the meatloaf. Arrange extra pepperoni slices on top, and sprinkle with additional mozzarella cheese if desired.
  5. Bake: Bake the meatloaf for 50-60 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C). If the cheese begins to brown too quickly, cover it with foil for the remainder of the baking time.
  6. Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired, and serve with extra marinara sauce on the side.

This Pizza Meatloaf is a delicious mashup of two favorite comfort foods, offering the savory flavors of pizza in every bite of this classic meatloaf!
