Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup whole milk, warmed
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

For the filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (about 8 slices)

For the glaze:

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1–2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough:
    • In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
    • Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Stir until a soft dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5–6 minutes.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  2. Prepare the filling:
    • Mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl until a smooth paste forms.
  3. Assemble the rolls:
    • Roll out the risen dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
    • Spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
    • Sprinkle crumbled bacon evenly over the filling.
    • Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Pinch the seam to seal.
    • Cut into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  4. Bake the rolls:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before glazing.
  5. Prepare the glaze:
    • Whisk powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth and pourable.
  6. Finish:
    • Drizzle the maple glaze generously over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve immediately and enjoy the gooey, bacon-studded goodness!

These Maple Bacon Cinnamon Rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat them gently to bring back their soft, gooey texture.
