Hamburger Patties

There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of biting into a perfectly cooked hamburger patty. Whether you’re grilling in the summer or using a stovetop skillet during cooler months, homemade hamburger patties offer unmatched flavor and control over ingredients. This simple yet delicious recipe results in juicy, flavorful patties that pair well with your favorite toppings and buns. Customize them with seasonings to suit your taste or enjoy them just as they are—pure, meaty perfection.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat for juiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Optional: 1 egg (for binding, if desired)
  • Optional: ¼ cup breadcrumbs (for extra structure, if desired)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. If you prefer patties that hold together more firmly, add the egg and breadcrumbs. Gently mix with your hands until the ingredients are just combined—avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.
  2. Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball, then gently flatten into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Use your thumb to press a shallow dimple into the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  3. Cook the Patties:
    • Grill: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or adjust the time based on your desired level of doneness.
    • Stovetop: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add a touch of oil and cook the patties for about 4–5 minutes per side.
  4. Rest and Serve: Once cooked, remove the patties from the heat and let them rest for 2–3 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute. Serve on buns with your favorite toppings—lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, pickles, and condiments.

Enjoy your juicy, homemade hamburger patties with a side of fries or a fresh salad for a classic, satisfying meal!
