GRILLED AVOCADOS

Grilled Avocados are a simple yet impressive dish that brings out the creamy richness of the fruit with a smoky char. When grilled, the natural sweetness of the avocado intensifies, and the slight crispiness on the edges adds a delicious contrast to the soft interior. The heat from the grill enhances the flavors, while the addition of toppings like lime, cilantro, and seasonings creates a refreshing, savory bite. Whether served as a side dish, appetizer, or even a topping for tacos or salads, grilled avocados are a versatile and healthy addition to any meal. They’re quick to prepare and sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • Red pepper flakes or chili powder (optional, for added heat)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Avocados: Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Slice the avocados in half and remove the pit. To make it easier to scoop out the flesh later, you can score the inside of each half in a crisscross pattern (be careful not to cut through the skin).
  2. Season the Avocados: Brush the flesh of the avocado halves with olive oil, and season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder (if using). This will help create a nice sear while grilling.
  3. Grill the Avocados: Place the avocado halves, cut side down, on the grill. Grill for 2-3 minutes, until grill marks appear and the flesh starts to soften. Flip the avocados over and grill for an additional 1-2 minutes to ensure they’re heated through.
  4. Finish and Serve: Remove the avocados from the grill and squeeze fresh lime juice over the top. Garnish with chopped cilantro and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or chili powder for a little heat, if desired.

Grilled Avocados are a delightful way to enjoy the richness of avocados with the added smoky flavor from the grill. These are great on their own, but they can also be served with toppings like crumbled feta, salsa, or even a fried egg on top for a more filling meal. Enjoy them as a healthy side dish or a tasty snack!
