Green Tea Cookies

Green Tea Cookies are a delightful blend of delicate sweetness and the earthy, slightly bitter flavor of matcha green tea. These cookies have a soft, buttery texture that practically melts in your mouth, making them perfect for pairing with a cup of tea or coffee. The vibrant green hue from the matcha not only makes them visually striking but also adds a unique depth of flavor. They’re an elegant treat for any occasion, combining the traditional elements of a sugar cookie with a modern twist of green tea goodness.

Ingredients:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp matcha green tea powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp milk (optional, if dough is too dry)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add 1-2 tablespoons of milk to help it come together.
  5. Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 tablespoon each) and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Gently press down each ball to flatten slightly.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  7. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy your Green Tea Cookies as a delightful, matcha-infused treat that’s perfect for an afternoon snack or dessert!
