Golden Turmeric Milk

Golden Turmeric Milk, also known as “golden milk” or “haldi doodh,” is a soothing, spiced beverage with roots in Ayurvedic traditions. Revered for its anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties, this warm drink is perfect for winding down after a long day or giving your body a comforting boost during colder months. The rich golden hue comes from turmeric, a superfood spice loaded with curcumin, which is believed to promote overall health. Paired with cinnamon, ginger, and a hint of sweetness, this milk is a delightful way to combine wellness with indulgence.


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based, like almond or coconut)
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground ginger (or 1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated)
  • Pinch of black pepper (enhances turmeric absorption)
  • 1 tsp honey, maple syrup, or sugar (optional, to taste)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the Milk: In a small saucepan, combine the milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper.
  2. Simmer the Spices: Heat over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until the milk is warm but not boiling. Simmer gently for 3-5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  4. Strain (Optional): If using fresh ginger, strain the milk through a fine mesh sieve to remove the ginger pieces.
