Flatout Wraps

Flatout Wraps are a versatile and healthier alternative to traditional bread, offering a soft, pliable base perfect for sandwiches, burritos, or flatbreads. These wraps are often lower in calories and higher in fiber, making them an ideal choice for quick meals or snacks. With their flexibility, they can be filled with your favorite proteins, veggies, and spreads, or baked into crispy chips. Whether you’re packing a lunch or whipping up a quick dinner, flatout wraps are a convenient and delicious way to enjoy a balanced meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ¾ cup warm water

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Add the olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough begins to form.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 3-4 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each into a ball. Using a rolling pin, roll each ball into a thin oval shape, about 8 inches long and 6 inches wide.
  5. Heat a large, dry skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook each flatout wrap for 1-2 minutes per side, until lightly browned and cooked through.
  6. Remove the wraps from the skillet and let them cool slightly. Fill with your favorite ingredients for wraps or sandwiches, or store for later use.

Enjoy your flatout wraps fresh, or use them as a base for creative meals like quesadillas, wraps, or even baked chips!
