Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Wings: In a large bowl, whisk together the olive oil, soy sauce, honey, hot sauce, garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, black pepper, and salt. Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. Prepare the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a charcoal grill, set it up for indirect grilling.
  3. Grill the Wings: Remove the wings from the marinade and place them on the grill. Grill the wings for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F.
  4. Glaze the Wings: While the wings are grilling, combine the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is heated through. During the last 5 minutes of grilling, brush the wings with the glaze on all sides.
  5. Serve: Remove the wings from the grill and transfer them to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot, and enjoy the game!

These wings pair perfectly with classic tailgate sides like coleslaw, potato salad, and a cold beverage of your choice. Go Pirates!
