Classic Herb Stuffing

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of day-old bread (about 10 cups), cubed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 ½ cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 10-15 minutes until they’re dry and lightly golden. Remove and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add the garlic, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, and fresh parsley. Pour in the broth gradually, tossing the mixture to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid evenly.
  4. Stir in the lightly beaten eggs to bind the stuffing together. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed.
  5. Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the top is crispy and golden.
  6. Serve your Classic Herb Stuffing warm alongside your favorite main dishes and enjoy!
