Classic Herb Stuffing
Ingredients:
- 1 loaf of day-old bread (about 10 cups), cubed
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 ½ tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried rosemary
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 ½ cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 10-15 minutes until they’re dry and lightly golden. Remove and set aside.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and celery, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add the garlic, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper, cooking for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the toasted bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, and fresh parsley. Pour in the broth gradually, tossing the mixture to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid evenly.
- Stir in the lightly beaten eggs to bind the stuffing together. Season with additional salt and pepper if needed.
- Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the top is crispy and golden.
- Serve your Classic Herb Stuffing warm alongside your favorite main dishes and enjoy!
