Cinnamon Buns

Cinnamon Buns are the ultimate cozy treat, featuring soft, fluffy dough rolled with a cinnamon-sugar filling and baked until golden. Topped with a creamy vanilla glaze, these buns are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or an indulgent snack. The sweet, buttery filling melts into the dough as it bakes, creating a gooey, caramelized center that’s simply irresistible. Whether served warm from the oven or reheated the next day, homemade cinnamon buns are a classic comfort food that’s worth every step.

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tbsp ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Add the melted butter, remaining sugar, egg, flour, and salt, and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  2. Make the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until combined.
  3. Roll and Fill the Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
  4. Roll and Cut the Buns: Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll.
  5. Rise and Bake: Cover the dish and let the buns rise for 30-45 minutes. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the cinnamon buns for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Make the Glaze: While the buns bake, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Glaze and Serve: Drizzle the glaze over the warm buns before serving.

Enjoy these Cinnamon Buns fresh from the oven for a soft, gooey, and comforting treat that’s perfect any time of day!
