Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint (16–20) fresh strawberries, washed and dried thoroughly
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips or baking chocolate
  • 2 ounces white chocolate (optional, for decoration)
  • Optional toppings: crushed nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, or drizzle of caramel

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Strawberries:
    Ensure the strawberries are completely dry before dipping, as any moisture can cause the chocolate to seize. Keep the green leaves on for an elegant touch and as a natural handle.
  2. Melt the Chocolate:
    Place the semi-sweet chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Melt it using a double boiler or in the microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until smooth and glossy. Be careful not to overheat.
  3. Dip the Strawberries:
    Hold a strawberry by the leaves and dip it into the melted chocolate, twisting slightly to coat evenly. Lift it out and let any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Place the strawberry on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Decorate (Optional):
    If desired, melt the white chocolate and drizzle it over the dipped strawberries using a spoon or piping bag. Alternatively, sprinkle with nuts, sprinkles, or coconut while the chocolate is still wet.
  5. Set the Chocolate:
    Allow the strawberries to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or place them in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes for quicker setting.
