Chocolate Bacon Bark

This sweet and salty treat is the perfect balance of rich, creamy chocolate and crispy, savory bacon. Chocolate Bacon Bark combines two contrasting flavors that harmonize beautifully to create an irresistible snack or dessert. It’s simple to make but feels gourmet, making it a fun and unexpected addition to parties, gift baskets, or as a special indulgence for yourself. The smoky crunch of the bacon adds an incredible texture to the smooth, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate, while a sprinkle of sea salt ties everything together for a delightful bite every time.

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz dark or milk chocolate (use chocolate chips or bars)
  • 8 strips of bacon
  • 1 tsp sea salt (optional)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the bacon: In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Once cooled, chop the bacon into small pieces.
  2. Prepare the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler to melt the chocolate on the stovetop.
  3. Assemble the bark: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the melted chocolate onto the sheet, spreading it out evenly to about ¼ inch thick.
  4. Add the bacon: Sprinkle the chopped bacon evenly over the melted chocolate. For a sweet and salty twist, drizzle a little maple syrup over the bacon, then lightly sprinkle sea salt on top.
  5. Set the bark: Place the tray in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until the chocolate has fully hardened.
  6. Break and serve: Once set, break the bark into irregular pieces and serve. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
