Chicken Cheesesteaks are a mouthwatering twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, made with tender, juicy chicken instead of beef. Sautéed with onions and peppers, and smothered in melted cheese, this sandwich is full of savory, cheesy goodness. The chicken soaks up all the flavors from the vegetables and seasoning, making every bite flavorful and satisfying. Served in a soft hoagie roll, this easy-to-make meal is perfect for lunch, dinner, or even a game day feast.
Ingredients:
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 small bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone or American cheese
- 2 hoagie rolls
- Mayonnaise (optional)
- Hot sauce (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking for 5-6 minutes until they soften and start to caramelize.
- Add the garlic to the skillet and cook for another minute, until fragrant.
- Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the thinly sliced chicken. Season the chicken with smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cook the chicken for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it’s cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
- Once the chicken is fully cooked, mix the vegetables back in and divide the mixture into two portions in the skillet.
- Place two slices of cheese over each portion of chicken and vegetables. Cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.
- Toast the hoagie rolls if desired, then spread mayonnaise or hot sauce on the inside of each roll.
- Transfer the cheesy chicken and vegetable mixture into the hoagie rolls and serve hot.
