BBQ TURKEY MEATLOAF

BBQ Turkey Meatloaf is a healthier and flavorful spin on the classic comfort food, offering a smoky, tangy twist with the addition of barbecue sauce. Made with lean ground turkey and seasoned to perfection, this meatloaf is juicy and packed with protein. The glaze of sweet and smoky BBQ sauce on top caramelizes as it bakes, creating a delicious crust that pairs beautifully with the tender meat. Perfect for weeknight dinners or a family gathering, this dish is easy to prepare and pairs well with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a crisp salad.

Ingredients:

For the Meatloaf:

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the Glaze:

  • 1/3 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan.
  2. Mix the Meatloaf Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, milk, egg, 1/4 cup barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands or a spatula until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
  3. Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a loaf, or press it evenly into the loaf pan.
  4. Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake the Meatloaf: Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). During the last 10 minutes of baking, brush the remaining glaze over the meatloaf for an extra flavorful coating.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!

This BBQ Turkey Meatloaf delivers the perfect balance of smoky, sweet, and savory flavors, making it a new family favorite for both weeknights and special occasions!
