Barbecue Pulled Pork is a classic dish known for its tender, juicy meat that’s slow-cooked until it easily pulls apart, then coated in a rich, tangy barbecue sauce. Perfect for sandwiches, sliders, or served on its own, this flavorful pork dish is ideal for family gatherings, game days, or whenever you’re craving some hearty comfort food. The slow cooking process allows the pork to absorb all the smoky, sweet, and spicy flavors of the sauce, making every bite melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
Ingredients:
- 3-4 lbs pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Soft sandwich rolls or buns (for serving)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) or set your slow cooker to low.
- In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, coating it evenly.
- Place the pork in a roasting pan or slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, and Worcestershire sauce around the pork.
- Cook the pork for 5-6 hours in the oven (or 8-10 hours in the slow cooker on low), or until the meat is very tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
- Remove the pork from the oven or slow cooker and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Then, use two forks to shred the meat.
- Toss the shredded pork with barbecue sauce and return it to the oven for 15 minutes or cook it in the slow cooker on high for another 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Serve the pulled pork on soft sandwich rolls or buns, with extra barbecue sauce on the side if desired. Enjoy!
