Ingredients:

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork (optional, for extra juiciness)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for browning)

For the Barbecue Sauce:

  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for heat)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Meatballs:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork (if using), breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Shape and Brown the Meatballs:
Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs in batches, turning occasionally, until they’re golden on all sides (about 5-6 minutes). They don’t need to be fully cooked at this stage. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:
In the same skillet, combine the barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and chili powder. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
  4. Simmer the Meatballs:
Return the browned meatballs to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them to coat. Cover and simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked and tender.
  5. Serve:
Serve the barbecue meatballs warm, garnished with chopped parsley if desired. They can be enjoyed on their own as a snack or appetizer, or as part of a meal with your favorite sides.

These Barbecue Meatballs are flavorful, easy to make, and versatile, offering a perfect balance of smoky and sweet that everyone will love!
