Baked Chicken Kiev

Baked Chicken Kiev is a delicious and elegant dish that features chicken breasts stuffed with a flavorful garlic and herb butter, then coated in breadcrumbs and baked to perfection. As the chicken bakes, the butter melts inside, creating a juicy, tender center that bursts with flavor. Traditionally pan-fried, this baked version is a lighter take on the classic dish, offering the same rich taste with less oil. Perfect for a special occasion or a fancy weeknight meal, Baked Chicken Kiev pairs wonderfully with vegetables or a fresh salad.

Baked Chicken Kiev Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for drizzling)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Herb Butter: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter with garlic, parsley, dill (if using), salt, and pepper. Shape the butter into a small log, wrap it in plastic wrap, and freeze for about 20-30 minutes until firm.
  2. Prepare the Chicken: Using a sharp knife, make a pocket in the thickest part of each chicken breast, being careful not to cut through. Slice the chilled herb butter into four equal portions and place one in each chicken pocket. Secure the opening with toothpicks.
  3. Bread the Chicken: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with paprika. Dip each chicken breast into the flour, then into the eggs, and finally into the breadcrumbs, pressing to coat evenly.
  4. Bake the Chicken: Place the breaded chicken breasts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Drizzle each with olive oil. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Serve: Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving. Remove the toothpicks and enjoy with your favorite sides.

Enjoy the rich, buttery flavor of Baked Chicken Kiev for a satisfying and impressive meal!
