Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough:
    In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg, and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6-8 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5 minutes.
  2. Let the Dough Rise:
    Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  3. Prepare the Rolls:
    Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and flatten it slightly. Place about 1-2 tablespoons of shredded cheese in the center, then fold the edges of the dough around the cheese and pinch to seal. Shape into smooth balls.
  4. Second Rise:
    Arrange the rolls on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, seam-side down, leaving space between them. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Bake the Rolls:
    Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and herbs, if desired. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
