Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (more for dusting)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then sprinkle the yeast over the surface. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy and bubbly.
  2. Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, softened butter, salt, and eggs. Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, stirring until the dough begins to come together. Once the dough is formed, turn it out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, arranging them so they are slightly touching.
  5. Second Rise: Cover the baking dish with a kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for an additional 30 minutes, until they are puffed and nearly doubled in size.
  6. Bake the Rolls: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 18-22 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
  7. Brush with Butter: Remove the rolls from the oven and immediately brush the tops with the melted butter to give them a soft, glossy finish.
  8. Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving warm. Enjoy them fresh out of the oven, or store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

These sweet dinner rolls are perfect for family gatherings, holidays, or any time you want to add a touch of homemade warmth to your meal. Their light, tender texture and subtle sweetness will make them a favorite on your dinner table.
