GARLICKY GREEN BEANS

Garlicky Green Beans are a simple yet flavorful side dish that brings out the natural sweetness of fresh green beans with the savory kick of garlic. Sautéed to tender-crisp perfection, these green beans retain their vibrant color and crunch while being infused with the rich flavors of olive oil, garlic, and a hint of lemon. This quick and easy recipe pairs well with almost any main course, making it a go-to for busy weeknights or a fresh, healthy addition to holiday meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated Parmesan (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blanch the Green Beans: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 3-4 minutes, until bright green and just tender. Drain and immediately transfer to an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.
  2. Sauté the Garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and just beginning to turn golden.
  3. Cook the Green Beans: Add the blanched green beans to the skillet, tossing to coat them in the garlic oil. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are heated through and tender-crisp. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Finish with Lemon and Parmesan: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the fresh lemon juice. If desired, sprinkle the green beans with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
  5. Serve: Transfer the garlicky green beans to a serving dish and enjoy!

These Garlicky Green Beans are the perfect combination of bright, fresh flavors with a savory garlic twist, ideal for complementing any meal.
