Resurrection Rolls

Resurrection Rolls are a fun and meaningful Easter treat that also symbolize the story of the resurrection. These sweet rolls are made with marshmallows that “disappear” as they bake, representing the empty tomb of Jesus. Wrapped in crescent dough and rolled in cinnamon sugar, the marshmallow melts inside, leaving a hollow, sweet, and gooey center. This recipe is perfect for teaching kids about the Easter story while also enjoying a delicious dessert or breakfast treat. The combination of buttery crescent rolls, melted sugar, and cinnamon makes these a delightful, interactive baking activity.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 large marshmallows
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease lightly.
  2. Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
  3. Prepare the Crescent Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 triangles.
  4. Wrap the Marshmallows: Take a marshmallow and dip it into the melted butter, then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place the marshmallow in the center of a crescent roll triangle, and carefully wrap the dough around it, pinching the edges tightly to seal it completely. Repeat with the remaining marshmallows and dough.
  5. Bake the Rolls: Place the wrapped rolls on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let the rolls cool slightly before serving. When you bite into the roll, the marshmallow will have disappeared, leaving a sweet, hollow center.

Enjoy these Resurrection Rolls as a delicious reminder of the Easter story, perfect for sharing with family and friends during this special season!
