PARMESAN BRUSSELS SPROUTS

Parmesan Brussels Sprouts are a delicious, savory side dish that combines the earthy flavor of roasted Brussels sprouts with the crispiness of Parmesan cheese. Roasting the sprouts brings out their natural sweetness, while the Parmesan adds a crispy, cheesy finish. This dish is easy to make and perfect for weeknight dinners or holiday gatherings.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 lbs Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice (optional, for a zesty finish)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Prepare the Brussels Sprouts:
    • Trim the ends off the Brussels sprouts and remove any discolored outer leaves. Cut the sprouts in half if they are large.
  3. Season the Sprouts:
    • In a large bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, garlic powder (if using), salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Roast the Sprouts:
    • Spread the Brussels sprouts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, cut side down for extra caramelization. Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  5. Add Parmesan:
    • After roasting, remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the Brussels sprouts. Return the sprouts to the oven and roast for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the Parmesan is golden and crispy.
  6. Finish with Lemon Juice (Optional):
    • For a fresh, zesty finish, drizzle the roasted Brussels sprouts with a little lemon juice. This step is optional but adds a nice brightness to the dish.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • Transfer the Brussels sprouts to a serving dish and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot as a side dish.

These Parmesan Brussels Sprouts are crispy, cheesy, and packed with flavor, making them a great accompaniment to roasted meats, pasta, or a vegetarian meal. Enjoy!
