Enjoy them as-is, or top with a drizzle of chocolate or a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra special touch!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large bananas)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Whisk until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and mashed bananas until well combined.
  3. Combine the dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Mix the batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts if using.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  6. Cool and serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice into squares and enjoy!

These banana brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
