Beer Brats Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 bratwurst sausages
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups beer (lager or pilsner works well)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 6 brat buns or hoagie rolls
  • Mustard, sauerkraut, and other toppings of choice

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot or deep skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and garlic, cooking until the onions are softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Place the bratwurst sausages in the pot, nestling them among the onions.
  3. Pour the beer over the brats and onions, ensuring the sausages are mostly covered. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the brats in the beer and onion mixture for 15-20 minutes, turning them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  5. Preheat a grill to medium-high heat.
  6. Once the brats are cooked through, remove them from the pot and transfer them to the grill. Grill the brats for 5-7 minutes, turning them frequently until they are browned and have nice grill marks.
  7. While the brats are grilling, continue to simmer the onions in the beer until the liquid reduces slightly and the onions are golden and tender.
  8. Serve the grilled brats on buns, topped with the beer-simmered onions and your favorite condiments like mustard, sauerkraut, or pickles.

Enjoy your flavorful and juicy beer brats, a perfect addition to any casual meal!
